The 7 Chakras of Life Energy (connecting your spirit to your body)

Whether you care to believe or not (but it will be more powerful if you do choose to believe) ….. read on …… for knowledge and wisdom from centuries past is continually flowing through a powerful channel – ever current, ever spinning, ever available for tapping into, coming from a vital cosmic source of energy to which we are all linked….

Running through your central axis, your spinal cord from base (coccyges) to crown (skull) there are Seven Chakras (Wheels) of electrically charged energy centres spinning at differing speeds (slowest at the root, fastest at the crown) and at specific points both front and back of the central column. These Seven Chakras are Your ‘batteries’ that are connected to the greater powerhouse of the universe (via your crown) and which continually re-charge you (for free!) to keep you afloat and ever progressing through your life’s journey. The size and brightness of your ‘batteries’ vary with your own individual development and physical condition. When working correctly and without obstruction or being too ‘opened’ these Chakras assist with all being physically and mentally good and life in general is healthy. However, they, being a deep physiological, psychological and spiritual part of us human beings, are fragile … they can suffer damage, dis-ease and when disrupted and malfunctioned can cause either ‘overload’ of energy, quite literally like a short-circuit, or absolute depletion in our vital spiritual and physical energy levels!

If like most, your reaction to unpleasant life experiences is one of blocking your feelings and emotions you will end up stopping a great deal of this natural energy flow into, and out of, your being. This in turn will deeply affect the maturation and development of the Chakras. Whenever you block whatever experience you are having, in turn so you shall block the necessary clockwise spinning of your Chakras and eventually any number of them may become disfigured.

When Chakras are functioning normally, each will be open, spinning clockwise at their individual regulated speed so as to metabolize all particular energies required from the universal energy field.

Let’s take a closer look at our ‘batteries’ and where and how they are placed into our system ….

This Chakra connects us with the energy to “act” and it brings us to be conscious of our self-worth, self-esteem and the ability to express our personal power. Our relationship to the world around us, and our beliefs about our place within it come from this centre.

Self-honour starts here. A healthy third Chakra honours self-confidence, self-assuredness, emotions, warmth, intellectual understanding, laughter and joy. A keen awareness of your personal power comes from this Chakra as it is here that a great balance in all areas of mind, body and spirit becomes possible through harmony between the upper three and lower three Chakras. Ambition, ability to achieve and personal sensitivity are all stored here.

Blockage can manifest itself as anger, frustration, fear of rejection, the need to exert power over others, judgemental attitude, aloofness, lack of direction or a sense of victimisation, over sensitivity to criticism, blame, low self-esteem and self-respect.

GREEN is the colour of your

Heart Chakra

It is the wheel that associates with: I feel!

It helps you to see the boundless possibilities available

…….it is called Anahata’

– Air Zodiac signs Aquarius, Gemini and Libra

It is the #2nd Ray of “Love-Wisdom”

It is found centre of chest, just above the heart

Anahata is where we commence envisioning the possibilities of the internal and external world…the world of spirit and of form, the ability to find inner peace. The heart chakra is the integration point for the seven chakras of the body, it holds the sacred spark of the divine and the intuition of the Mother.

This Chakra is associated with your lungs, heart, arms hands and thymus gland.

When the heart is open, we can forgive, our lungs are clear and our immune systems are healthy. Those higher chakras cannot be assessed until we pass through the heart. A heavy heart carries resentment and anger from denied feeling and emotions, as well as guilt and can breed actions of inhumanity, lack of compassion or unprincipled behaviour.

We fall in love through our heart Chakra, and from there the feeling of unconditional love moves to the emotional centre (our solar plexus). After that it moves into the sexual centre where strong feelings of attraction can be released. When all of these energies combined move into the Root Red Chakra we may have the desire to settle down.

To have a healthy heart, you must allow suppressed emotions to surface and heal. One must learn to fall in love with oneself first. For if one can not love themselves then a life of sufferance can ensue, or that of bitterness and lack of forgiveness. An unhealthy heart chakra causes feelings of loneliness and despair. How you love yourselves, you love others. The heart lessons are self-love and forgiveness of  the self.

Health issues: high blood pressure, breathing difficulties, shortness of breath, chest pains, circulation problems, heart disorders and tension between the shoulders.

Ways to Repair your Heart Chakra

Ask Yourself

  1. Do you allow yourself to spend time alone just for you?
  2. Do you regularly practice true forgiveness by seeing your own faults?
  3. Do you carry emotional wounds and sadness in your heart that you don’t want to accept and look at?

Blue is the Colour of your

Throat Chakra

It is the wheel that acknowledges: I speak!

It helps with self-expression

…… is called Vissudha’

– No Zodiac signs

It is the #3rd Ray of “Active intelligence”

Vissudha is located within the throat.

It is associated with your Neck, shoulders, arms, hands, thyroid and parathyroid glands.

This ‘wheel of energy’ brings to the forefront your ability to make choices. It gives you the right to speak and be heard. It offers the blessing of ‘willpower’ to manifest in you. Speaking is a given right of choice. Not all that we say can, however, bring us peace. Some of what we say empowers us, some dis-empowers us…It is here that we must observe what we say and why we say it … Our words are carried forth by unloving or loving imprints from our past. It is through this Chakra that we can synthesise our intentions, we link between the senses of inner and outer hearing, healing, transformation and purification.

It is through this Chakra that we can get what we want in life.

A healthy throat Chakra makes your voice clear and resonates with truth. Your words are a creative expression of the honesty you feel within.

Blockages can make it difficult to communicate, perhaps experiencing feelings of suppression because of ‘swallowed’ emotions and feelings. It can also show up as creative blocks, or having problems in communicating ones needs to others. It can also surface as dishonesty. If your voice is weak this may be a reflection of how you feel internally. Integrity plays the biggest part in the proper functioning of the throat Chakra. Since this Chakra’s placement is between the head and the heart it works to maintain integrity between what we think and what we feel.

Self-empowerment is the main lesson here.

Health issues: fever, ear infections, weariness, thyroid problems, disorders in the throat, ears, voice, neck, cervical spine, hypothalamus and oesophagus problems.

  1. Do you always express your thoughts and feelings in a clear and understandable way?
  2. Is your voice clear and resonant when you speak?
  3. Do you believe you have the right to make choices for yourself that empower you?
  4. Are you a good listener?
  5. Do you ever lie in order to get your own way?
  6. Do you have a good sense of timing and rhythm?

Indigo is the colour of your

Third Eye Chakra

It is the wheel that acknowledges: I see!

…………. it is called ‘Ajna’

– No Zodiac signs

it is the #5th ray of “Concrete Knowledge.”

This Chakra connects us to our intuition and ability to be visionary. It opens us to the worlds of questioning and knowing. It is the center of divine wisdom, the spiritual eye that seeks to see and know the truth in all things.

Ajna is located on the forehead between the eyes. (It can also be referred to as the Brow Chakra)

This Chakra’s concerns are with inner vision, intuition, imagination and wisdom.

It is from this ‘seat’ in our spinning Chakras that we can close our physical eyes and look at the world from all aspects of ‘self’. From here it is recommended to allow one’s intuition to become one’s sole guide. Your dreams for this life and recollections of other lifetimes are held here.

A healthy third eye gives power to perceive every reflection from the outer world, and is a direct call for us to accept it as ours, to heal and to love it without condition.

Blockages in this Chakra can cause us to become delusional, unimaginative, indifferent and to manifest as problems like ‘lack of foresight’, mental rigidity, ‘selective’ memory and depression. Worry is a big problem too as a direct result of being detached from your imagination.  Being spaced-out and poor concentration also plague a person with a sick third eye Chakra.

Health issues: headaches, eye problems, pituitary and pineal glands, neurological problems.

Ways to Repair your Third Eye Chakra

Ask Yourself

  1. Do you allow yourself to trust your intuition?
  2. Can you let your imagination soar and visualize?
  3. Do you constantly justify and give reasons for acting without love?
  4. Do you have “insight” as to what’s happening in any situation?
  5. Do you have difficulty concentrating?

Health issues: headaches, eye problems, pituitary and pineal glands, neurological problems.

Violet is the colour of your Crown Chakra

It is the wheel that acknowledges: I understand!

It helps you to accept with recognition

……… is called ‘Sahasrara’

– No Zodiac sign

it is the #1st Ray of “Will and Power”

Sahasrara is located at the top (crown) of the head and spins very quickly, it is often signalled as a 1000 petal lotus… it is our direct connection to the universal Godhead (see biostrata). Humane guidance comes directly to us from the divine and is received through this uppermost chakra.

This Chakra is associated with the cerebral cortex, central nervous system and the pituitary gland

It connects us to our Inner and outer beauty, our connection to spirituality, opens us toward pure bliss.

A healthy Crown Chakra brings a very real and strong life force from the creator to penetrate (freely) into our energy system, this raw energy moves down through the other energy centres to the root chakra. From here we are inspired by the universe and filled with Grace because we have a strong connection to a power greater than ourselves. As we live in the present time and our spirits live in the now we need to recognise their ability to join in harmony with our form and Will.

Blockages here can cause confusion, depression, senility, lack of inspiration and any other number of psychological problems. The flow of spiritual energy can be blocked in both directions and when this happens spiritual addiction and over intellectualizing occurs, as well as dissociation from the body.

Health Issues: Migraines, brain tumors, coma, amnesia, nervous system and muscular system disorders, mental issues, and skin disorders.

Ways to Repair your Crown Chakra

Ask Yourself

  1. Are you able to connect with and feel a higher power governing your life?
  2. Do you feel inspired and open to new concepts and ideas?
  3. Do you often feel confused or depressed?
  4. Do you meditate?
  5. Do you show gratefulness for what you have?
  6. Are you always complaining about your unhappiness?

Action This

Healing Exercises:

  • Meditation
  • Running, Swimming or any other cardiovascular activities

Healing Foods:

Since the Crown Chakra represents our spiritual connection to our surroundings, this Chakra does not benefit from healing foods. The Crown Chakra is more likely to benefit from getting out into nature, fresh air, sunshine and generally enveloping yourself with good breathing.

Transcendence of unloving imprints of this Chakra:
